Your team: 

As Chief Architect within our tech leadership team, you will drive the definition and execution of Taxfix technical strategy. Reporting to our CTO, heading a team of architects, and collaborating with all engineering teams, you'll make critical decisions and manage our portfolio of technical initiatives to build a solid technology foundation to succeed in our business goals.

 

Your responsibilities: 

  • Define a clear and coherent technical strategy to achieve the company's business goals.
  • Identify, prioritise and design solutions to mitigate technical risks and realise opportunities in our software.
  • Ensure that our architecture choices boost software delivery and quality (release frequency, MTTR, etc.), accounting for developer experience and productivity. 
  • Collaborate with all product leadership to align priorities and roadmaps, making appropriate technology choices and compromises.
  • Make critical decisions about which platform components to build and which third-party solutions to integrate into our stack. 
  • Hire and manage a team of talented software architects. 
  • Be part of engineering recruitment processes and employer branding activities.
  • Lead by example - you should be able to write and review code when needed, write RFCs, and continuously stay close to the engineering work.

Your profile:

  • You have previous experience in a technical leadership role in large or fast-growing companies (e.g. CTO, Chief Architect, VP/Director/Head of Engineering)
  • You have a strong understanding and experience in designing software systems for large-scale projects. You apply principles, patterns and best practices to make software scalable, resilient and secure.
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills. You are comfortable writing documents to materialize your ideas for complex problems in order to make it clear and actionable for team members. 
  • You are a strong problem solver, with the capacity to reason about complex architectures end-to-end. You can reason about trade-offs and the dynamics of interactions that occur from technology choices in the stack. 
  • You can work at a high-level and discuss technology decisions with business stakeholders, but you can also dive deep into technical details and give the right direction to engineers. 
  • You need to have experience with microservices, cloud, mobile and web technologies. Ideally, you are familiar with working with a NodeJS and React stack. We believe that you need to know how the internals work in order to be successful in this role. 
  • You have experience managing people, hiring, and mentoring engineers.
