How is foreign income taxed in Germany?

Foreign income that you earned during the time abroad is subject to the so-called “Progressionsvorbehalt” (Progression proviso). It is included in the calculation of your tax rate, meaning that this foreign income increases your tax rate for domestic income.

Foreign income earned during a stay in Germany is generally fully taxable. If a tax exemption is possible, the app will take this into account.
